The Course Concept The Song Out of the Hat: Each student draws a song from a hat. Students do not get to choose their music — they have to create a brand new solo to the chosen song. Throughout the course, students will be given creative challenges that must appear in their final solo. These challenges encourage them to develop musicality, character, storytelling, improvisation, and paying tribute to the legends before us. The intention isn't just to establish this one performance. By the end of the course, students will have a repeatable process for creating their own solos in the future. As part of the course, students also receive the Keen to Choreograph workshop if they haven't already completed it. Students will perform their solos at the Seabreeze Hotel in a ticketed event created just for them! The show will aim to be a fun, casual and entertaining night where the audience is aware of the students process and comes along for the ride.
